Why mushrooms?

More harvest from less land.

Mushrooms don’t need sunlight or a big field. They need the right room, the right temperature and someone who has done it before. That’s why more farmers in UP are adding a mushroom shed next to the fields.

Oyster mushrooms growing in clusters from a hanging straw bag in a bamboo shed
Oyster · straw bag to harvestReady in 3–4 weeks

51,000 tonnes

Mushrooms grown in Uttar Pradesh in 2024-25, the most of any state and about 13% of India's crop. The buyers, cold stores and know-how are already close by.

Racks, not acres

Mushrooms grow on shelves indoors, so a 500 sq ft room can start producing. Wheat and paddy straw from your own fields becomes the growing bed.

Fast first income

Paddy straw is ready 12–15 days after spawning, oyster in 3–4 weeks. Your money doesn't sit in the field for a whole season.

A crop for every season

Button in the winter, milky and paddy straw in the summer heat, oyster most of the year. An AC room grows button all twelve months.

How Atul helps

One adviser, from the first idea to the last sale.

Advice only. Atul doesn’t sell seeds, compost or machines, so his list is about what your farm needs, not what someone wants to sell you.

Variety & season

Which mushroom suits your district's weather, your space and your budget, so the first crop isn't a gamble.

Setup, tools & machines

Bamboo shed or AC room, racks, humidifier, pasteurisation. A clear list of what to buy now, what can wait and what to skip.

Growing & crop care

Green mould, flies, weak pinning, low yield. Atul has seen them all and tells you what to change, step by step.

Selling in India

Which mandi, which hotels, restaurants and supermarkets, which days pay best, and how to grade and pack so the price holds.

Export

Which countries buy which variety, fresh or dried, the quality and packing they expect, and introductions to buyers.

Buy-back

Growing good quality in good quantity? S.R.A. Agro buys mushrooms directly from growers and supplies restaurants and export buyers.

On your farm or on video call, wherever you are in India.

From first call to first sale

Five steps. Atul is with you in each one.

You don’t need any experience to start. Most people who call have never grown a mushroom.

Selling & export

Growing is half the job. Selling is the other half.

Plenty of farmers grow a good crop and then sell it cheap, because they don’t know who’s buying. Atul has spent fifteen years on the selling side too.

About Atul Maurya

A grower first. Now he helps others grow.

Atul Maurya started growing mushrooms in Tiwaripur village, Azamgarh, fifteen years ago. He built a business from it, crop by crop, and learned the hard parts the hard way: failed batches, bad buyers, rates that crash in a glut.

Today, through S.R.A. Agro, he advises farmers and landowners who want to earn from mushrooms. His team works with growers online across India and on site at their farms, and has good links with the agriculture department.

Questions & answers

Before you call

Still have a question? Ask it on WhatsApp. It’s quicker than you think.

Do you sell seeds, compost or machines?

No. Atul is a consultant. He tells you what to buy, how much and from where, and what to avoid. Since he isn't selling you anything, the advice is about what works for your farm.

I have never grown mushrooms. Can I start?

Yes. Most people who call have never grown a mushroom. Oyster or milky in a small room is a common first crop, and Atul guides you from day one.

How much does it cost to start?

It depends on the variety, the space and whether you build a bamboo shed or an AC room. After the site review you get an itemised list with expected costs, so you know before you spend.

Will you come to my farm?

Yes, Atul and his team visit farms in person. If you're far away, the review and the guidance happen on phone and video call, wherever you are in India.
